This project is designed to encourage children to enjoy gardening and taking care of plants. Building on my BA Graphic Design skills, I created a kid-friendly character, which is an interactive planter pot. This planter pot includes a small gardening tool kit, and also using a face that responds to the moisture in the soil. When the plant has enough water, the face is smiling; if the soil is dry, the face will change to a sad face. On the planter pot, the different tools look like part of my character’s hands and tails. I designed it like this because I wanted it to be decorative in an apartment or home, at the same time as demonstrating to children that for indoor gardening, the plant needs regular monitoring and care. The cute face will attract their attention and encourage children to take care of the plant. The plant will be located on the top of the character’s head.
